Misery Grasp - Interview

Misery Grasp is one of the latest Black Metal bands that have appeared on the Portuguese scene lately. Unleashed from the catacombs of the Unconquered Land of Portugal, this anti-human blasphemic band accepted to talk with Infernal Dungeons to do This interview. These are the words of Sothis, the vocalist of the band.

Who are Misery Grasp ?

Misery Grasp is a project created by me and Maynah Nammah during 2005, after some line up problems, Misery Grasp have a stable line up, me in the vocals and lyrics, and M.D. in the guitars, bass and drum machine

What are your main influences and what are the thematic that you use in your lyrics ?

Bands like DarkThrone, old Mayhem, Gorgoroth, Burzum, old Immortal, Marduk, and some many others had a big influence in our music. Our lyrics are related with Hatred, Darkness, Death and the total annihilation of this pathetic humanity.

When are you thinking on releasing the first demo ?

We are working on it right now, we will start the recording soon, i think that during this spring, our first attack will be unleashed

What can you tell about this first demo ?

it will have four tracks of fast, aggressive and chaotic Black Metal, for now it will be called "Destruction Of Mankind", but nothing is decided yet, we also talked in recording a cover, but it was decided to do it on a future release.

At the beginning you where the drummer of Misery Grasp. Do you expect to return to the drums ?

to be honest, after the change we didn’t talk about it, the things are working very good with me in the vocals and playing with a drum machine, i don’t know if i will ever play drums again in Misery Grasp, like a said before, the things are very good working on this way

So Misery Grasp will never play live, or you’re expecting to do some concerts ?

i would like to play some live gigs with Misery Grasp, but that doesn’t depends only of me, maybe in a near future we could play some gigs

With which bands do you like to play in a possible Misery Grasp first concert ?

There are many bands that i would like to play in a live gig, but if we ever play live, at that time we will see which bands could play with us

What do you think about the actual state of the Portuguese Underground ?

We have a very strong scene, with very good bands and projects. I will not speak in names, they now who they are

What Black Metal means to you ?

Black Metal is much more than just music, for me, is very personal and special, i don’t want to speak much more about it.

What do you think about Politics and Religion ?

I don’t give a shit about that crap, it’s not my cup of tea

Do you think that Human Annihilation is a necessity to end all the problems in the world ?

i think that if all human scum was annihilated, for sure that we have a better world

So if all the Humans disappear (including you, ehehe) the world can be better ?

Interview - Fortian Greymorning

Fortian Greymorning is one of the very good Black Metal bands that are spreading blasphemies in Brasil.

They play a depressive and really sad Black Metal full of sorrow and pain. We went to talk with the vocalist Luciferian Darkness Lux Occulta to know a little more about this horde.

Hells!! Tell us a little about Fortian Greymorning.

Fortian Greymorning is a horde from Brazil that unleashes a dark/black metal full of hate, depression, melancholy, depression. We try to bring to music the bitter taste of suicide and disgust. Everything under the shadow of the most sinister cosmic Satanism. In the stage, we also try to summon the dirty darkness. We also support self mutilation and any form to make the human flesh bleed. We are heralds of the fire of vindex, the star gate to the vindex. We don't have anything to do with politics in our art. We are sick minds making symphonies of pain for the ones that creep in the night searching for suffering.

What are your main influences and what are the thematic that you use in your lyrics ?

Our influences come from various styles and artists. From the classical music to the most raw black metal. Talking about my personal influences, the old bethlehem, de mysteriis dom sathanas, xasthur, Deinonychus, silencer are some of the things that inspire me to create.
The lyrics deal with our father Lucifer the morning star, suicide, depression, self mutilation, suffering, pain, desperation, hate, misanthropy, rape, forests, winter, cosmic kaos, secret ritual.....almost everything that we live in our satanic penitence.

You have Unleashed 3 Blasphemies, do you want to talk a little about them ?

During the wanderings trough this decadent dimension we summoned 3 monuments to intolerant arrogance. When I listen to the first and the second in present nights, they don't sound good to my ears, but the third sounds very grim, depressing and represents the shadow of satanas. Soon we'll release an offence called "you must kill yourself'. Where we'll do our best to see your worst.

Can you talk a little about this new Blasphemy ?

It’s almost done and as I said the name will cry “you must kill yourself". It will have songs as: "dracomorphos", "lamentations of the hydra", "the loathsome void of the rotting spirits"...it will rise in the end of March, I hope so.

How do you see de evolution of the Underground scene on Brazil and Worldwide ?

I'm not very hopeful. I see only numbers, not power; I see only masses of brainless children. Of course with exceptions, some sick and evil minds that rest in the shadows, observing in silence. Waiting the end of this fucking and stupid false black metal type. Those are my allies. And fuck the rest. No one is welcome to my torture chamber.

What do you think that can be done to put an end in this madness ?

Create an own individual scene. Be apart from the circus. Let the worms eat themselves. Let them drown in their own vomit and excrement.

Tell us what you think about politics and religion.

I have my politic visions, but i don't bring them to the sphere of the band. Black metal is all about darkness, evil. It has nothing to do with weak human ideas. Not to be a slave of someone that was made of the same fetid flesh as us. About religion: I believe in only one, the cold steel that caresses skin and flesh, bringing the blood in Lucifer’s honour.

What do you think about these Themes? Misanthropy, Nature, Nihilism and Death.

MISANTHROPY: it has to be used with intelligence. I hate the cliché created by this word, created by some bands that only dream to be really misanthropic. It has to be used with our modern lives with the hate to the "normal" people with our moments of solitude and introspection. i don't know anybody who lives in a cave in the mountains far away from mankind. That’s the utopic misanthropy.

NATURE: my only relief in this stupid world of pain, The sound of the winds, the majestic mountains that surround me, the trees, the full moon of autumnal nights, the fog. Men only shows weakness destroying it, it’s a real shame.

NIHILISM: I see a lot of children claiming that they are nihilists. Have they really experienced the empty, have they crossed the abyss of zax? Have they entered daath? Have they looked in the eyes of choronzon? Stay away from the emptiness, the real nothing, the cold and desolate dimension of nihil.

DEATH: the beginning of the greatest journey. The end of the human shell, the march of the soul to the fire of algol, the shadow of wyrm.

Do you expect to come to Europe to do some concerts ?

Sure! I think that where Fortian Greymorning liberates its rottenness in its most satanic level is in the stage we are a live band. The light of the black candles flows trough the stage in exaltation to the kaos. About Europe, maybe one day we will regurgitate our sinister decadence in the old world. It's a pleasure to me make a nauseating ritual on the stage.

What are your plans for the future ?

Get some new self inflicted scars, try to escape from suicide, carry more lives to the ruin, and promote decadence and vices. Prepare the world to the age of fire, the galactic aeon of the obscure gods. Create more leper in form of music, be one with satanas.

Interview - Hell War Productions

Hell War Productions is one of the most important Underground Portuguese labels. We are talking about 10 years at the service of satan. We went to talk with Cultus Profanus and he agreed to answer this interview.

When have you decided to create Hell War Prod ?

I wanted to created a label/distro since 97 or 98, but 2 other guys started it before me, and since at that time we were very closed I helped them on it and put apart my idea, since most of the stuff on the distro, at that time was found by me. The first releases has been INNER HELVETE - "Satanic Hecatomb", and WAR MASTER - "Only Dead is Real - War Master's Tribute to DEAD".

Hell War Prod. is dedicated to the most extreme Underground scene. Perhaps is one of the greatest Underground labels in the Portuguese Scene. Tell me what's your secret to get this goal done.

Nothing special, I just release what I like and I don't care what others may think about it. I don't seek for quality music, or for bands that could give money through the sales, I just want bands that could give me a feeling that nowadays is almost lost. I'm very proud of all releases and all of them have a special meaning to HWP, few have a hidden story behind, others have been possible after many years of contact with the band members. I think it's important for the labels to know the bands before release theirs works. I have already denied some releases, or some items for the distro list. I think what keeps HWP still active is the continuous search for unknown underground bands/labels/zines that I still make and, of course, because there's still a few maniacs that also maintain the interest for such projects and helped me buying such trophies that most of people dislike and even disrespected.

Do you want to keep HWP as a small underground label or you wish to evolutes to a highest level?

HWP will always be an underground label with a natural process of evolution but never to be a sold out label with happy metal bands involved on it. I deal with only the extreme underground and dealing with this isn't necessary to purchase a highest level on the mainstream movement because the ones involved on that crap will never understand the magic and felling that a rehearsal tape or a demo tape recorded at home transmit.
The ones who support HWP know very well what to expect from the souls emerged from here. Feeling and attitude above all music abilities.
I never kiss nor licked nobody’s asses and many that have stabbed my back will never work with me again, and I said this because today in this scene we see many strange things, people hated each ones but
at the end everyone is a big friend and live in a happy community. HWP never search that!

So you have many bands interested in releasing stuff by HWP, right?

Well, "many bands" is very subjective. There are some bands interested on work with HWP however 95% of the releases have been made because HWP contacted first the bands. The entities that contacted HWP but don't interested (musically or attitude) I explain to them the reasons why HWP don't have interest on that kind of bands, and usually they understand, if not Fuck Off! I’m not the kind of guy that when I have to say “NO” I prefer not to answer and hidden myself behind the computer like so many do,
Because it wasn’t easy to say “no”. Everyone talks on sincerity, on strong attitudes and that crap but at the end only few know what they are saying and feel what they do.
Other problem in release all the stuff I want, is that economically I couldn't put out as many releases as I wish, because if po$$ible I would like to release 10-15 tapes per year and number of releases (4-6) is still very far from that, and I have already to refuse some great releases that I would like to put out because of that reason. However all the releases I put out makes me very proud of that.

All the Underground labels suffer with monetary problems. How can you deal with those problems in HWP?

Yes, it's a big problem. I have to kill my mind to find solutions and I have the goal to not put money from my pocket on HWP, but it's very hard, almost impossible.
I try to release 3 or 4 tapes at the same time, since the price per cover is cheaper in this situation; other solution is to make the covers on Xerox cover, which is much cheaper, since the number of copies is few.
The postal costs are also a big problem for our underground activities. Pleasure is what I get from doing this. If underground supporters spent more of their money on underground labels I can assure you that we could have great labels here in Portugal, with more releases and more quality ones, but the fans prefer to buy cds from big labels, big bands. It’s sad, but that’s the reality.
I think here I’m speaking by all labels.

Actually you are releasing more Portuguese Underground bands than international bands. Do you think that our scene is getting stronger? What do you think about the quality of the Portuguese Underground ?

It depends on the perspective. I think we have a strong scene, however if you look well you can see that actually the number of bands are almost the same as the number of fans, every one have a band, and most of them have even more than one. And personally I don't see this as a stronger thing or as a positive thing at all.
Yeah, it's great to see so many bands but are all they explored to the maximum being the members in others bands? I don’t think so.
According to the Black Metal there's another strange thing that I don't understand: Some individuals have one BM band that refuse to play with a lot of other bands (because of their ideology, visions, attitude etc…) but with their other bands they play with every kind of bands and persons, my question is: They have double personality? They are 1 thing in one band, and another thing in the others bands? I really don't understand.
We have great bands, few great individuals, few great supporters, but the Portuguese Underground has a very big problem: Lack of identity! Only few know who and what they really are, the others are just followers of someone that also don't know what path should follow.
There's many back stabbers, many childish attitudes that aren't necessary. The so called true ones are the most poser ones, lots of Gothic’s are involved into the BM scene, and some of them are hailed as true and evil… very sad thing. They are all "brothers" but for me it's only bullshit. I spit in their brotherhood.
About HWP release lately more Portuguese bands, yes it's true, I'm always seek for strong bands and I think the bands I have release recently have, in a way or in another, a strong personality and most of them could evolutes to another level without loosing their identity, it's just necessary to keep believing in themselves and don't regret their roots.

What do you think that can be done to eliminate all the problems around the Underground scene?

Nothing can be done. We cannot change people's mind. They are happy in this way; let them rot in their happiness, in their empty way of thinking and living.
The most Fuck Off that can be done to them is by presenting work, because those ones stay very fucked when they saw a new release, a new zine, and a new propaganda by the ones they criticize. It should be good that Underground heroes in spite of talking shit on others work they started to work serious in their projects. More work and attitude and less speeches.
When the right people stop to praise these posers, they will disappear. They are like cheeps: While the grass is still green they will appear and show their pretty face, I mean, while peoples still listening to them just because they are cool (however their mind is a big empty space) they will stay here. And since people likes that shit, this will never change. Nothing can be done!

You were vocalist on Inner Helvete too. What can you say about your experience as a band member? Are you thinking in entering to another Horde?

Yes, it was true. I founded IH together with Impius in 1996. I can say it has been a great experience until 2005. Last year (2006) I leaved the band. Talking on a materialistic way I can say that I arrived to IH without anything and left IH without anything too. On a more personal way from the 5 gigs done, 2 of them will stay in my memory for years. The first one has been also very important for the band, and have showed IH attitude. Besides the gigs I'm proud of all releases (various tape and split tape releases, 1 split 7''ep, 1 split LP and 1 LP), but mostly the promo "Satanic Hekatomb", the demo "Glorification…" and the infamous split tape with Necrocult, still today this 3 releases makes me bleed of honour.
In the beginning of 2006 I, together with Mortiferus join forces to create a new blasphemous union, and it has been unholy baptized as Ódio Funebre. So you can wait another fuck off horde of pure hate. Musically it'll be different from IH but the attitude will be the same since I'm the same maniac today as I was during IH period (and here I am also speaking by the other maniac on this new creation).

How do you see the evolution of IH, according to the audience? Did you have support from the headbangers?

That's an interesting question; I could stay here for hours speaking about that matter…
In the beginning almost no one supported IH, we (at that time) were a very closed band, that doesn't want many exposure to the outside so, many couldn't have access to IH, and it makes that in Portugal nobody knows the existence of the band. Later, when the first releases were unleashed, the interest grows a little all over the world (especially in South America, Greece, France, Germany and other fucked up countries), only Portugal still shows no interest on IH. However in Portugal there are 5 or 6 personalities that supported IH since the begging, and those are the ones that deserve my total respect. The new comers are very subjective because I doubt they know IH. I can tell you that from IH 3 firsts releases there are very few copies here in Portugal. But it was interesting to see that in spite off no one knows IH everyone talked about it.
Later, when the LP was released everything changes, all "Lusitanian BM warriors" started to worship IH and saying "IH is the band, is BM, great band, blablabla", I asked: How the Hell someone could worship a band by seeing only 1 or 2 gigs (an some of them don't even saw nothing), and without having material from the band at home???? And what happens with IH happens also with other bands, just because some bands have some cool friends and that shit they are already a cult band. Fuck friendshit! That's the sad true about our underground. If your band has many friends your band will be recognized. And worst is that many "evil ones"(??!!??) liked that.
About IH, I could say that the ones that started to support in the begging are still supporting IH, the others that appears from nowhere I assure you that soon they will disappear so fast as they appear. Hail to the old true ones.

And what do you think about the last IH release on DVD format?

Talking as a fan of the band I don’t support at all that release because IH always denied doing that kind of releases, and is strange to me see IH on DVD, or CD. I don’t see yet the final result, so I don’t talk much more about it. Maybe the band wants to reach another level, that thing isn’t bad at all however with me that will not happen.

Can you tell us what were the reasons for you to leave Inner Helvete or you want to keep it in the secret of demons?

I don't think it's really important to be spoken in an interview. It's already dust spread in time….
However I could say, and because many have already asked me that, I’ll never be back to IH. It was 10 years, but now it's past and dead, and it should stay buried. Hope they continue with their music (if possible of on the fucked up tape format).

This demo, “Merciless Revenge”, from the Finnish band Evoked Curse is a re-release of the 2004 “Merciless Revenge” demo, with a bonus track called “Hitler the Messiah”, a cover from Angel Reaper.
This band was formed in 1989 but only released their first demo ten years later and they define their sound as Old School Black\Heavy Metal.
Evoked Curse presents us an Old School Satanic Thrash\Black Metal attack in these eleven tracks. The sound has the influence of the Germanic Speed\Thrash Metal scene from the 80’s.
We have fast and furious guitar riffs mixed with some catchy and melodic riffs; we have wrathful vocals spitting hate and blasphemies and excellent drum beats as this kind of sound requires.
If you like bands as Kreator, Destruction, Sodom, Tankard, etc… We are sure that you will enjoy this demo.

Interview - Nakkiga

Nakkiga is one of the great Black Metal bands from the lost lands of the Northern Iberian soil. They emerged from the ashes of Brutal Devastacion Cerebral in 1999. They practice a Depressive and Melancholic Pagan Black Metal and if you ask us for some influences we can say perhaps Nargaroth, Mutiilation, etc... We went to talk with the Blasphemous Arghura, to know a little more about this excellent band.

Tell us a little about Nakkiga

Aupa!!! Thanks for the interview!!!
Nakkiga born in 1999 from the ashes of Brutal Devastacion Cerebral (a Black Grind band). In the beginning the two members of the band started to compose a Black Death Metal with pagan lyrics. Actually Nakkiga are formed by Oindurth (Drums), Buliwyf (Vocals) and me Arghura (Guitars and bass). We are Unjoli Txabakan Metal!!!!

What are the concepts of your lyrics and describe us your sound.

Our lyrics talk about the pagan themes, but no pagan gods, we are rural men no castle warriors. Generally we use a “Añoranzas y pesares” book in our lyrics, this book contains a lot of anti-human material. Our sound is a very nasty sound. Our music is a mix of Death, Black, Thrash metal music with a few melodies and more noise. We like a lot of Gorgoroth, Nargaroth, Dissection or Arckanum or Mutiilation, we like a mix of these bands.

Nakkiga appeared from the ashes of Brutal Devastacion Cerebral, a Grind Black Metal band... Nowadays Nakkiga has nothing to do with that kind of sound. It's Melancholic, depressive and very intense sound... Are two different bands or you see Nakkiga as an evolution of Brutal Devastacion Cerebral ?

Are two different bands. Nakkiga is not a evolution of BDC, idem members but other inspiration. Thanks for your opinion, we like melancholic feelings. With BDC we can played a grotesque and raw sound but our goals are other themes, bestial music with other feeling, a ancestral feeling, primitive songs, primitive people, RETURN TO THE PRIMITIVE RITES!!!

You had problems with the line up, and used some session musicians to perform live Blasphemies. You had difficulties finding a fixed line up or you it's a choice of yours ?

This is our decision… yes. No more We can’t find other musicians with the same kind of feeling as us. For the live shows we use session musicians (Urgarun of Mortinatum, Mandril of Lúpulo...), but the band areus, recently we add one vocalist in Nakkiga, and at the moment we are preparing new songs and new concerts.

You present your lyrics in Basque, your natural language. You do it with cultural proposes, as well as a form to show how rich is the Basque culture or there are other reasons ?

The language choosen was very easy, Basque language (her name is Euskera) is a very primitive language and it adds a very special feeling in Black Metal, the pronounce is ideal for this kind of music. Other cause is Euskera is dying, few people talk and we like Euskera.

Talk us a little about Spanish Underground Scene.

Uhm, my English level is very bad in this question... This music is a gate for my depraved inside and the despicable outside. Is a weapon for the war against the human hypocrisy, for my life stile, hard life style, but we live in a hard world. Tell us what you think about politic and Religion.

No politics, no religion!!! We are anti politics people, we have our opinion but we don’t share this opinion with anyone about politics, we are antiNS, antiComunist, antihumanreligion. FUCKING SHITH WITH THE POLITICANS!!!

What are your plans for the future ?

At the moment we are preparing 6 new songs and a Centinex cover for the 1º full album. We have recorded 2 song for a split LP, CD and tape with Xerion (Galiza), Black Empire (Mexico), Kratrornas (Filipinas) and us. For the moment this are our plans, we are preparing a lot of the new songs, the new songs are more technique songs but we like noise jejejeje!!!

This Split tape named “Paritur Pax Bello” it’s one of the newest releases from Hell War Productions. This Split tape counts with two Italian Black metal bands, Namter and Gaszimmer”. These two hordes are both Namter projects, member of the extinct horde Apolokia.

In the Side A of the split tape we have Namter with the re-edition of the demo tape from 2004 called “Hostis Humani Generis”, counting with six old school Black Metal songs and a bonus new song called “Dolore è Luce”.
Namter appears with a misanthropic and extreme Black Metal. Raw and harsh riffs of the guitars are combined with the using of samples and keys to create an obscure and chaotic ambience. The voice is really extreme and aggressive, reminding in some parts the voice from Vulturius from the Portuguese band IRAE. Namter hails the Nature with a misanthropic and Satanist ideology. We got lots of feeling and intensity on the sound of this band.

In the Side B we have Gaszimmer with the live recording of the 1999 demo release tracks and a track from the LP version of “Dominazione di Eternita”. Gaszimmer presents an aggressive and fast Black Metal with some militarist influences. This is a real direct and raw sound, there’s nothing pretty in here, just true Black Metal.

We can assure you that this is a masterpiece of two great Black Metal bands and you won’t regret in get one copy of this split tape.

This is a six way split released by Hell War Productions with six Underground Black Metal bands from Portugal playing the rawest sound right from the pits of hell.

Starting the side A from this 6 way split we have Irae with the track “Guerra”. Irae bring us a real raw black metal hymn fast and real sick. The possessed voices of Vulturius seems like they’re coming right down the pits of hell. Coldness, dirtiness and rawness it’s what we have here in Irae sound… the pure essence of Black Metal.

Then we have the second horde Satanize with the second track called “Ódio”. It’s Raw and real dirty with a Hateful ambiance. It’s freezing and chaotic like all black metal should be.

The third ones are Black Howling with the track called “Honra”. What can we say about the sound of this horde… The sound is mid passed with some real cold riffs and possessed voices and screams. It makes us think like the screams are coming right down from hell… This sound is real intense and depressive.

Starting with the side B of this tape we have Cripta Oculta with the track “Gloria”. Real fast and intense black metal is what we have in this blasphemy to glorify the true Black Metal Warriors. Great vocal presence and powerful riffs in this raw and extreme Black Metal hymn. The music ends in an intense and sad way with some ambient chords and flute sound… In glory…

Then come Mons Veneris with the track called “Sangue”. This only hate, possession and blasphemy. Raw riffs and possessed screams…No beauty no gayness, only intensity and sickness in this misanthropic Black Metal sound… we can’t see humanity in this sound, only hate and sickness come out from this band.

To finish the six way split we have Vermen with the track “Morte”. This sound is really intense, depressive and full of feeling. The sad riffs from the guitars remind us a requiem… Perhaps this is the most intense and sad sound of the six way split. The pain that come out from Vermen sound is to hard to explain. Just listen the sound…

This is a great release from Hell War Prod. That everyone should have… a real hymn to black metal true warriors.

Ready to Fuck come from Brazilian Black\Thrash Metal hordes and presents us with an excellent Black\Speed\Thrash Metal in this first demo tape. “Inicio do Caos” is constituted by 4 tracks full of hate and need to kill some Christians.

The killing begins with “Inicio do Caos” a track that begins with a slow guitar intro 34 seconds. Then the killing begins with riffs of pure Speed\Thrash Metal, real catchy sound.

The Second Track called “Tempestade do Ódio” is a hateful hymn calling for the destruction of the human race… lots of speed and rage from guitar and bass join in the programmed drums in a chaotic harmony… a real symphony for destruction…

The third track “Prazer de Matar” starts as a Black Metal sound, with raw harsh guitars with the session vocalist Kauz Borealis praying for all souls he can get and send them back to hell… Then at the end, the sound turns into a Speed\Thrash Metal real catchy that make all the listeners bang their heads.

To end this excellent demo “O Silencio da Morte”, perhaps the Blackest song of this blasphemy full of melancholic and depressive ambiance with some northern European influences, a true hymn to Black Metal.

This is an excellent beginning to this recent Brazilian band. We think that the Chaos as already begun!!!

Hells!! First tell us a little about Nargash…

Hail!
Nargash is a project of my own, started at 2004 in a need to create something of my own. As black metal was and still is my biggest influence in music, I decided to give birth to Nargash and do something for me.
I spent two years by myself composing and writing for Nargash, later on, I invited AssassIIn to join as a bass player to give me a hand with it. Sharing the same ideologies and musical influences it was easy to establish a connection between us.

So… What are your influences and what are the themes of your lyrics ?

Well, I guess my biggest influences are bands like Mayhem, Emperor, Dark Funeral.... etc. Lyrically I write mostly about Nature. I often write about the winter, mysticism of the forest and so on.

In a few words… describe us your sound…

I guess our sound could be described as cold fucking black metal. Plain and simple.

AssassIIn as taken the place as bass player… Do you expect to complete the Line Up for future concerts or you don’t want to play live ?

Well... not really, not for now anyways. We have thought about playing live and discuss it, but we, being from different regions only complicates it, and we wouldn't have much time to find other members and rehearse as a band. For now Nargash won't play live, maybe in the future you'll see us on stage... You'll just have to wait and see what will happen...

You have released your first demo this year titled “Paths of the Dead”. How do people has accepted your demo ?

I haven't given much thought to it because that demo was supposed to be released in 2005 or something. Anyways, the criticism was pretty positive from the people I've showed.
Some people liked it, some didn't...

When are you expecting to unleash some new blasphemies ?

We are finishing working on our new material. We have a few songs ready, soon we will begin the recordings. We might do some Split-CDs with some other Portuguese bands, soon we will also appear in too Portuguese black metal compilations, one by Hell Unleashed Records and the other by Nekrogoat Heresy Productions, and we might record our mCD in the beginning of 2007.

You have some dates for the future releases ?

The only date I'm sure of is the compilation that will be released by Hell Unleashed Records, December 2006. The other releases I'm not sure. Maybe in the beginning/middle of 2007. We’ll see...

Tell us what you think about the present situation of the scene…

I think it's killing itself, honestly. Like it or not, the black metal scene is filled with posers and rock stars, there are a few bands I like in the scene, such as, Asbath Oculta, Forgotten Winter, Bruma Obscura, Bahamut, Decayed, and a few others...

And have you already thinking in a cure for the underground diseases ?

Nargash takes care of itself, fuck the others...

Tell us what you think about Nature, Misanthropy and Black Metal…

Nature is earths purest form, its all the beauty, power and strength, it's something I am fascinated about and it's something I respect.
Misanthropy is something we might not ever know what it's really about, for me it's a mixture of hate, agony, despair and coldness.
Black Metal to me is all about strength, wisdom and power.

And what do you think about politic and religion.

I don't do politics.
Religions to me are a complete waste of time. We were born with fucking brains. I don't need no fucking god to tell me what I should stand for or not

Well, I guess my only goal for now is to record the first full length album for Nargash.
I don't know if it will take a long time or not.. We just have to work for it and make it our best....

Make us a little presentation about Vapulah!

Vapulah was formed under the fallen leaves of autumn 2003, when two individuals (Sephirus and Alvahagal) with the same ideas joined their strength and will! The conceptual work that we do in Vapulah is kind different from current ideologies and ideas that most intend to…We do not wish to render trivial concepts and attitudes that we are shelled every day.. With this work we try to seek and understand the entrails of humanity, and all that surrounds the animal instincts that we have inside… We try to understand what/witches are the laws that force us to make some actions and decisions in this arena we call world. Concepts like Evilness, Darkness, Hate, Misanthropy and a few more, are intrinsic in our music and lyrics but in a different way.. We try to ascend to different forms of consciousness, and Knowledge is what we seek by Gnostic wills...

How can you describe your sound ? What are your influences ?

Our influences come from different kind of genres, from Classical to BM! We’re influenced by all the Great dark Arts, by all the music that it’s deep and done with heart and mind…

What is the thematic used in your Blasphemies?

You have unleashed one demo, “Auric Landscapes and Decadence”. Tell how they are being received by the people?

I think people recognize the name Vapulah, although the first opus didn’t reached the BM underground the way we planned… but we’re very satisfied with the general opinion.

You’re about to unleash a few more blasphemies. Can you tell us something more about it ?

Skull Productions released a few days ago Vapulah’s second demo “Depressive Caterwaul of the Sombre Figures”, and there’s only a few copies available, it’s almost sold out! soon we’ll release a split-tape with PENITÊNCIA (a mighty Hail to that great project), we are honoured with this release as well the other split-tape with HEKATOMB…

Do you expect to do some concerts or it’s a studio band ?

Vapulah will not play live in the near future, nor in a distant future!
We do not intend to perform any kind of show!!

Tell us your vision about the state of the Portuguese Underground ?

There are some great personalities in the Portuguese Underground, we salute them, and with them we share the same disease and walk through the same Sombre paths! As we ignore some other “funny” personalities that seem more like entertainers inside the “scene” (if there is one)…

Give us your vision about Black Metal. For you, what’s the meaning of Black Metal ?

What’s are your plans for the future ?

Interview - Celtic Dance

Twelve Years... This Old School Pagan Black Metal Horde have survived many battles on it's life. By the lidership of Conqueror, This Horde promisses to spread lots of deseases and to crush Christianity and for that he as recruted new warriors to acomplish his conquest. So we went to talk with Conquerer himself to know how things going in Celtic Dance.

HELLS... 12 years of Blasphemies and battles against Christianity made Celtic Dance one of the most charismatic bands from the Portuguese underground scene. Do us a little review about Celtic Dance’s life.

Salve! Well let's say that Celtic Dance somehow always pretended to be quite unique, fortunetly we've reached our goals in some points... Many line-up changes, some problems with releases, time & so on prevented to go even further, still from my point of view maybe it was the best way to stay away from the trendy scene of nowadays... We've now a new fresh line-up: Conqueror (vokills), Xeque-Mate (guitar), Zy (drums) & Leanan Sidhe (bass), so we'll see what the future will bring from now on!

Since the early days of the band you had serious problems with the line up. What were the reasons for that happening ?

As I said above there was many line-up changes, the reasons? To name a few I think that the most obvious was the lack of dedication, time, attitude & interest of some members...

In 1996 you were ripped off by a Germanic record label called Shivadarshana Rec. What can you say about that ?

Let's say that it's just part of the Past... Perhaps it was not the best time to release "Ancient Battlecry" on CD format, even if at that time we had an offer to release it after a new recording (specially the bass lines), but at that time the first line-up already departed from the band! So after all this years I think the band haven't loose anything at all, except for the money & time we spent on the mentioned recording.

You have being hide in the shadows for a period of 5 years. Many people thought that you were dead. What were the reasons that made you stop ?

To be honest the band somehow was indeed hidden for about 8 years. Still we never stopped, I'm the only original member on the band along with Xeque-Mate (aka: Nygurien) which returned to the band a few months ago, this time to take care of the guitar duties, since he was the drummer in the beginning. I spent that time writting lyrics, and foremost organizing my personal life, now I think maybe it's time for another battlecry...

We know that the band has a new line up and it’s working for new battles and new Blasphemies. Can you tell us something about some new releases or next battles in the stage ?

As I said on Question 1 we have now a new line-up: Conqueror (vokills), Xeque-Mate (guitar), Zy (drums) & Leanan Sidhe (bass). We're preparing now our debut album "Too Proud To Kneel" & a few gigs as well. On March 2007 probably we will take part of BM festival in Porto along with Ereskhigal (Mexico), & some Lvsitanian hordes as Morte, Infernal Kingdom, etc... Sorry but I don't have any more details for now.

In 12 years you have seen many bands appearing and disappearing. Can you do us a balance about the evolution of the scene, till nowadays ?

What evolution? It's true that we have a great lot of BM bands nowadays but having such a big division among them how the fuck can we call it a good scene?!?!? The only good point now is that finally our hordes are acrossing the Lvsitanian borders and showing outside that we are not just a small point on the map... Salutes to all of them! The other side of the coin will be always the lack of respect, the excess of fame where there is not any at all... Understand that friends don't make a band famous but rather the attitude of the band himself!!!

For you, what’s the meaning of Black Metal ?

There is many important things in life but concerning mine for some personal reasons Black Metal is one of them & it will always be until I die. Still two words can best describe it: True devotion & attitude!!!

Politic: Let's say I have my own points of view...

Religion: There are too many to be banned from the face of the earth!!!

What are your plans for the future ?

Record our album "Too ProudTo Kneel" & play enough gigs to keep the Pagan flame alive.

Interview - Blizzard Winter

Blizzard winter it's a recent band from the Lvsitanian Catacombs. If you ask us how their sounds look like, we can say to you that it looks like Dark Funeral or Infernal. They have unleashed their first demo "Imperium" and are about to release a new blasphemy, so we went to talk with them in a messenger multi-session and they answered a few questions about this Blasphemic Horde.

Do us a little presentation about the band.

CT: Well, I guess all started when both me and Lidagon began working on some tracks around the year 2002. Most of time was for fun, with no big deal behind the project. Lidagon already had been in several bands working both as vocalist and guitar player. In 2003, he started to work on the idea of Blizzard Winter. He moved to Ireland with Velpecula and both started working on some songs...for blizzard winter. In mid 2004, I got into the band after an invitation of Lidagon and the current line-up was formed.

Describe us your sound and talk about your influences

CT: Well... I guess we can call it Black Metal and that's all. I guess it's quite inspired by bands like Dissection, Emperor, Marduk, or may I say fast and violent Black Metal but always with a melodic edge to it. I guess those are the biggest musical influences, although we all listen to a high variety of Metal or other types of music.

You have released a demo called Imperium. What can you tell us about it ?

CT: The tracks on Imperium were meant to be released on a split with Vorago (another project I'm into) and Coldblooded, but due to long delays we decided to release those tracks as a demo along with a long rehearsal track that is in fact an older version of "Floresta de Lanças". For this split, we did the lyrics in Portuguese and they have a medieval/feeling to it, something that will not be repeted in the future, these lyrics were made only for this split.
That type of lyrics was made specifically for this release and nothing more. After that, we did a small edition of 50 copies on CDR in a DVD box and are currently waiting for the re-release in tape format.

We know that it will be re-edited, right ?

CT: I fucking honestly hope so! I have plans, the thing is being prepared for almost a year but some dark fatality always seems to get in the way. We hope to get everything fixed with the label very soon

And we also know that a new Blasphemy is being prepared... What can you tell us about this new work ?

CT: Well, the second demo is composed and we actually recorded some songs, and one of them is featured on the first volume of the Metal Legions compilation of Dungeons Records.
The thing is, we aren't satisfied with the sound and decided to re-record it again. Things as usual are getting delayed because I'm not able to record anything right now since I'm not in Portugal.
But about the demo, I guess the material is more varied, with some slower parts, but I guess in an overall analysis, it's more aggressive and powerful.
Lidagon: In some words I can descrive the sound of the next demo Gateways to rebellion has disturbed, fast, agonising, powerful and aggressive.
CT: The lyrics deal with subjects connected with mythology and the cosmos. The themes were explored by Lidagon and Velpecula and then transformed into lyrics by me. I hope that it can be released in the first half of 2007.

So, in the beginning of the year we will see the beast being unleashed.

CT: I FUCKING hope so!!!!!

Now about the underground scene. Tell us what you think about the situation of the Lvsitanian Scene

CT: Some good bands, some awful shit, but overrall, things seem to be getting better. The best bands for me right now are perhaps Pitch Black, Karnak Seti, Hordes of Yore, the mighty Goldenpyre, In Tha Umbra, Corpus Christii.
Lidagon: Honestly I don't have any idea of the Lvsitania scene in the present, but I know they have some goods bands
CT: Well, as for me, there are some underground stuff that I'm into like DOR or Onirik (excellent Black Metal).
The thing is that I'm getting a bit away from the underground metal scene. Some new and interesting names might be missing, but those bands are the ones I like.

What's the meaning of Black metal for you ?

CT: Hum... Black Metal for me at least is a sonic manifestation of freedom towards moral and dogmatic restrictions.
Lidagon: for me is an expression of the Europen culture in the present
CT: Well, I honestly don't like this question. I guess everyone has a different view on it. I couldn't care less about most of the Black Metal nowadays. I rather get into the old stuff and that's it. Fucking tired of Darkthrone clones wannabes.

What do you think about politics and religion?

Lidagon: I don’t speak about politics and religion, Blizzard Winter is apolitic and don’t have religion
CT: Nothing more to be say about it. Blizzard Winter is not a political band. We don't take political sides in our music, only our lives and our lives belong to us.

OK… Then tell us what your plans to the future are.

CT: The priority is to release the second demo. As soon as I get to Portugal again, I'll record the vocals. Meanwhile, both Lidagon and Velpecula will record the guitars. The mixing process should be quick.
We also hope to get the problems with the label fixed and have the first demo re-released!!
Lidagon: and after that we will see What is going to happen, maybe a full album...find new members...we will see
CT: yeah, we need new members!

Bahamut - Interview

Bahamut is a Melancholic, depressive and Misanthropic band originary from the old catacombs where the brave Lvsitanian Warriors rest in piece. This fenom as occured by its creator Tormentv... with majestic toons appealing for the lonelyness, sadness and fantasy. Bahamut as released their first demo for Dungeons Records and actually it's being prepared the first album that will be released by Warfront Productions, so we went to talk with Tormentv to know more about it

1 – Hells... do us a little presentation of the band.

Greets, here’s Tormentv, mentor of my project Bahamut. I formed this project on the beginning of 2005 with the objective to explore more about my mind and some feelings. Before the music, I wrote during my life that acts mind on my own papers, little sketches and I did some designs, what I can't explain with the right correction. Then the music became as a good experience for my life that style, extreme metal, melancholic and hatred metal, becomes strong with my words and feelings, and that is some part of the objective of this project...then the future speaks.

2 – Tell us what the concepts of your lyrics are.

I write melancholic lyrics, with some poetry, fantasy, hate, my own philosophy about my thoughts and I follow like a critical mind about the reality, and my space. My lyrics don't speak about Satanism at all, neither about other type of ideology, like, religions and political things.

3 – You have released your first demo by Dungeons Records. How does de people received your work ? When will you release your next Blasphemy ?

Yes, I release the demo "Hidden theory" by Dungeons records, a great label of our underground scene that I respect very much. The people received the work with different opinions, some people liked and others not, is normal, but that not the most important point for me. I'm here, write on my paper, do my music, and that is the most important. About the new release, the first album, not a blasphemy album, but a good representation of extreme metal, with some air of old school and ambient music and with a good feeling. Will be released soon, maybe in this month, by the German label Warfront Productions.

4 – How does this deal with Warfront Productions occurred ?

It was easily to contact with them. I send the album and they liked very much and we decided to release with their conditions. We spoke about the layout and other things about the artwork, and we worked together, it was great to work with them.

5 – Can you talk us a little more about the album and its concept ?

Yes. The name is " Old Temple Of Depression", this is a very symbolic album, speak about our temple, old temple, symbolize our home, and our home lives with a deep depression, is about our days, our minds, we all know what I'm talking about. I talk about me and my space, I symbolize the fire with the intelligence, I symbolize the “four” gates with life, that’s means nothing for me or just a little time of stupid emotions.
The number "four" means many theories, "four" stations of year, summer, spring, winter, autumn, symbolize "four" natural life, like, water, fire, wind, earth, and that go on. This album have many symbolical theories about the human kind and the nature, is important to ear with attention, and follow the lyrics for understanding the philosophy of this album.

6 – So it’s a very personal album, something that has being unleashed inside of you, right ?

Yes, is right, I can say that in the general about the album and the project.

7 – Tell me what these themes means to you: Misanthropy, Nature and Black Metal.

Misanthropy for me is like a cold feeling, what we never understand what really means, about some negative feelings, like, sadness, despair, some hatred, etc. Nature is the most beautiful what we have; I'm a lover of nature, it’s pure, honest and true, is the power what I respect. About the Black metal, born like a sub-genre of heavy metal, and talk only about the theme Satanism. Actually, I can say, with some evolution thought, that the black metal is not only about Satanism, and yes, with other type of lyrics too, becomes a one style of music, extreme metal music, with a pure feelings, but I respect who are against this theory, and close their mind to Satanism, because that's the true definition and ideology of black metal, so, in this case, for that people, Bahamut is not a black metal project, but some extreme metal project.

8 – Do you wish to do live shows with Bahamut or this is not a priority to you ?

I'm not sure if I wish some day, maybe, depends of the songs what I want express like a reality act and what I can express to the “face” of public for obtain the right connection. Maybe... well, the future speaks.

9 – Tell us what are your plans for the future ?

The plans for the future are, one previous EP/ LP for release at the end of 2006 or beginning of 2007, with the previous title " Meu Fado" and maybe one second album for 2007.

Vermen is one recent band emerged from the catacombs of Lvsitania. This obscure band wishes to spread the unholy black flame through all vicious minds who dedicate their feelings and life to Black Metal. They Have unleashed their first blasphemy called "The end of Mankind" and are about to unleash some more Unholy kaos to possess your minds. We went to talk with L. I. and M.v.K, to know more about this kaotic pit of possessed souls called Vermen.

Tell us a little about Vermen

M.v.K » Vermen as started in 2004, but only at the beginning of 2005 really starting to work, this project was made in a conversation with Infaustum, and we've decided to make something chaotic and outside of the standard black metal, we arise with the "The End of Mankind" demo through Stricto Sensu Rekords (my own label) limited to 100 hand numbered copies, the final result was what we really want , a dirty sound and fucking chaotic morbid atmosphere...

About your sound… Describe us your sound and tell us what are your influences and the thematic that you use in your sound

L.I. » I think it's more than evident that we play Black Metal... as for influences I can't talk much but in my role, as a vocalist and drum programmer probably Satanic Warmaster and Vlad Tepes (concerning the drums...) and my voice... I think it's my voice... that's it.

M.v.K » As L.I said , we play Black Metal, I’m not influenced by bands, I’ve created riffs in a moment that i don't hear or think about anything, it's just my feeling doing it, if it sounds to something that's ok to me (and i could agree) ! Of course with this, I’m not saying that I’m original in what i do, but I can guarantee is not influenced...

So you compose your blasphemies at the moment, right ?

M.v.K » Basically yes, it's very rare to have something prepared to rehearse.

You will continue to use programmed drums or you are trying to find a Drummer ?

L.I. » We might use real drums for the album, but nothing is certain, so...

M.v.K » For me it's not a big problem , playing with a real drummer could slow more our progress and releases , i would agree more with a real drummer to play in concerts , for our releases i think L.I. make well the programmed drums. But we'll see till the recording of the first full length.

Do you expect to do some live performaces ?

M.v.K » I think so... not in a near future , as i've said for that i rather prefer a real drummer to perform on stage instead of a drum machine (pc etc etc).
But to play live, i think we could do some gigs when the first album will be released.

When will you release your album??? Are there any dates?

M.v.K » The process for recording it's a little bit delayed, because we've made recordings for 2 splits, but i think it will be out in the beginning of 2007...so we'll work with no worries, and do what we have to do, Kill & Destroy with our hatred!!!

L.I. » First we will release a 6-way split with bands I rather announce when the split is out and we also have a split with Irae programmed and then probably we'll start working on the album. No release dates available at least for now, I just can say that the 6-way split will be released very very soon...

What's you vision about the situation of the Portuguese Underground Scene ?

L.I. » What underground are you talking about? There aren't humble people anymore. Everyone "works" for secondary purposes like have their fuckin' asses on magazines or to have a status (inside the FUNderground...), but to express themselves through Metal. Sincerely, I don't think underground is good, and I'm talking world-wide... still there are true warriors around the globe but most of them are just the plain crap and even if they don't think this... they walk with the rest of the flock. Fortunately, we and some others, illuminated by the Black Flame, we are their wolves and soon or later these little bands and individuals will disappear... don't forget we are the ones who crawl under your feet and when the time come, we will push you down... we will bury you... and we will spill the poison... at least, that's what I intend to do with Vermen, a vile creation...

M.v.K » Underground scene ?! It's something that we'll never know here and outside of our county (it's the same shit everywhere), only few persons work for the supposed Underground, and not intended to make profit of that. I’m not going to talk of bands here, the ones i support know who they are, so the rest could be on their precious contacts with huge labels, and recording at big studios, and announce false gigs... and mainly auto-proclaim themselves as ELITE ones, therefore for me they're like everything, emptiness !!!

But you believe in the existence of that ELITE ???

M.v.K » Elite it's what they call, or think they are... for me the Elite I know it's a Norwegian band, and i don't appreciate it a lot.
I think that supposed "Elite" is created and consecutively denied by the same who gave origin, because they're vulnerable and nobody appreciate their work, and live all days sitting at a pc always expecting someone to be submissive to them, once more denying and always searching the fame... Vermen is for me in music, what will be for everybody in their last sigh of life...

Vermen is one band that only unleashed Blasphemies in tape or you don't have problem in doing it in cd ?

L.I. » As for Vermen we don't have problems with CD format as we want to spread our poison as much as we can... we're even thinking of releasing the split with Irae on CD format.

L.I. » I know what it's like to live for the Black Flame... for Black Metal... for Darkness.

M.v.K » Black Metal for me it's something that doesn't have any lucid explanation, so i could say that's what I breath and what I spell in my darkest moments, I don't see black metal as the. Feeble human desire or those who want to be, but as personal feeling, it's my hatred, my scorn against all and everything.

Which are the band’s that you most respect and wish to HAIL ?

L.I. » There are some bands that’s for sure... I believe some don't want to be mentioned here so I'll respect that. Anyway, hail Fear of God and Détente (R.I.P. Dawn Crosby).

M.v.K » Iron Maiden!!!! I think they're not going to read this, but it's the only band I respect...

Ok… So tell us what are your plans for the future ?

M.v.K » Well we're going to spread chaos as always, trying to release some vinyl, and probably think to make some gigs. But we'll not sign with big labels, so the future will be as the present one, miserable to eternity!

Interview - Delicta Carnis

Delicta Carnis is one of the newest great promises from the Brazilian scene. It's a very recent band, but they' re working hard and are achieving many things. They have played with some big names, such as Bestial, Mystifier, Krisiun and Unearthly. They are preparing their new blasphemy to be unleashed at the begining of the cursed year of 2007, so we went to talk with Lord Baphomet to know a little more about Delicta Carnis

Make us a little presentation of Delicta Carnis.

Bestial hails to Infernal Dungeons!! Delicta Carnis is:Abaddon - Guitar, Hellfrost - Guitar, Lord Baphomet - Bass and backing vocals, Vitão Remains-Drums, and Igor d’Ávila-Vocals.

How can you describe your sound and tell us what are your influences and what are the thematic of your lyrics.

I may say that we do a traditional Black/Death Metal, influenced in bands of Thrash, Death and Black Metal from 80’s e 90’s, such as: Morbid Angel, Samael (OLD), Mayhem (OLD), Rotting Christ, Vehemence, Celtic Frost, Slayer (Masters), Pestilence, Carcass, only to say, some of our lyrics are based on Viking mythology, death and all violence that is spread from human being.

You all have passed through many other projects, being playing in some of them. Can you speak about it ?

Me (Lord Baphomet) and Hellfrost played together in a Death\Doom Metal band named Putrefata, since 2004. Vitor and Abaddon played together since time of Abaddon, which later changed the name to Ritus Tenebrum and at the end Delicta Carnis, and Igor came from a Thrash Metal band from his city, named Skull, from Juiz de Fora, estate of Minas Gerais/Brasil. Ritus Tenebrum ended its activities and its members stopped for a while. Then Hellfrost and Vitão decided to create a band and called Abaddon and Igor to enter. The band rehearsed 4 times without bass player. Then they called me to complete this horde. I’ve entered in fourth rehearsal, we have rehearsed 3 times more and done our first presentation at 27Jully 2005, in second festival “Nocturnal Hordes Devastation”, in Juiz de Fora-MG/Brasil, with bands like Oligarquia, Ocultan e Paradise in Flames, where we presented our first demo cd called “Delicta Carnis”.

You have released one demo cd and participated in a compilation. Tell us how people are received your work.

The headbanger people have being receiving our work very well, the demo and the concerts. The gig have being brutal since then. In our first presentation, when we were preparing to start our show many people were buying our demo. We have participated in some shows and festivals at the side of very important bands from the Brazilian and mundial scene.

You have done many concerts with some important bands of the Brazilian metal scene, such as Bestial, Mystifier, Krisiun, Unearthly, and many others. How was the experience of being played with such bands ?

I think that it’s always an excellent experience to play in the stage with other hordes, What ever they are. But talking about that bands you have mentioned, i think that it’s an amazing, because we are big fans of that hordes and we respect them a lot, since

When are you thinking about release some new stuff ?

We are rehearsing new songs to start recording them. We got something like 10 new sounds to record and we expect to release the cd at January of 2007 and then distribute by some distros in order to spread our blasphemy in the better way.

What's your opinion about Underground scene ?

The underground scene nowadays it’s growing, unfortunately every day we see more Opportunists, posers, wannabes nazis and a lot of kids destroying the image of the metal all around the world, crap that deserve to be eliminated from the earth. But we see serious and excellent bands appearing and people who really fights for Metal. We must unite to end all that piece of crap opportunists. Only then we can have a much stronger scene.

In a few words, tell us what you think about Black Metal.

For me, Black Metal is defined as a ideology of life. It’s much more then music, like many people think nowadays. It’s the best representation of the violence of the human race which acts like real demons and each day it spreads is war against the oppression of the Christianity.

Almost all of you have webzines, talk us something about them and tell us how we can access your webzines.

Only Hellfrost(Guitar) and Igor(Vocals) have webzines. Hellfrost is webmaster of metalcapixaba webzine, that as born in 2004 with the initial proposal of giving to know only the bands from our area, but then Hellfrost decided to show Hordes from other states and other countries, being nowadays one of the most visited sites from our state. We expect to unleash our first cd at the beginning of 2007, and maybe do a tour to other parts of Brazil to present our first cd, and maybe do a few concerts in Uruguay with Down of Defiance, but it’s nothing confirmed yet.

Catacumba is a new promise coming from Brazil. This Brotherhod of evil is recent but shows like they came to stay and to conquer the underground with their awesome sound. They have released their first demo titled “Birkat Ha – Minim A Benção dos Hereges” which i may tell, it was very well recieved, that it's almost sold out. They Will unleash a new blasphemy, a live tape, by Alastor Rex, so then, we went to talk with the vocalist Gordorov Vomit Noise, to know a little more about this horde.

Give to us a little presentation of the Catacumba.

Gordoroth Vomit Noise: Greetings!!! Catacumba started when me and Count Unico del Inferni decided to create a band that symbolizes everything more damned and insane that exists in our minds at that moment and that manage to express our hate and repugnance to this world in the most extreme way: the Black/Death Metal like the monsters of Extreme Metal like Mystifier, Sepultura (Old), Sarcofago, Rotting Christ (old), Dark Throne, Emperor, Kreator, Destruction, Bathory, Hellhammer, Possessed, Death, Morbid Angel, Holocausto and few others.
Everything started whit a meting with my self and Count, Hellfrost (ex-guitar), Scubbus (ex-bass) and Amazarack in order to make some covers the bands that I’ve spoken before. After almost all line up left, I and Count started our own odes to chaos and misery to satisfy, at least satisfy some of our thirst of destruction… So me, the Count and Amazarack invoke other warriors metalheads to start the rehearsal before our first opus "Birkat ha - Minim A Benção dos Hereges". When the sound became compact, dilacerated and like we wanted, we initiate recording, despite being delay due the lake of professionalism of the studio owner (unfortunately very usual in our country).
After the end of the recording we started to diffuse our material to every world and forge our saga with fire and the sword…

Speak to us about your sound and about your main influences.

GVN: Catacumba is a union between 2 big ideas: Metal Music and antidogmatic Ideology. Everything around us, everything we hear, read, feel, speak and do is part of our musical paradigm. Entities like Mystifier, Possessed, Sarcofago, Nietzsche, Marilena Chauí, Kreator, Elaine Pagels, Pitágoras, Ódio, Miguel de Cervantes, Freud were influences to us… everything that might amplify ours visions about reality and about the paradigm of our daily can be mentioned as an influence to us. In fact, how you can realize in ours bootlegs, all the lyrics are written by me and became after all, an extension of my most hatful thoughts… For despair of adepts of restrictive dogmatic…

You guys are a recent band, how have it been your journey until today?

GVN: We’ve been supported by hundreds of brothers head bangers all over the world my friend, and that is very grateful to us. Even having a short trajectory I already can affirm with no doubts that our saga is already marked in the hearts of the maniacs in the most extreme and unify underground movement.

You have already two releases…speak to us about them.

GVN: The repercussion on the demo “Birkat Ha – Minim A Benção dos Hereges” have been the best it can be! In one year we spread over than 900 demos all over the world and we have so far, replies 666% favorable not only in Brazil, but also in other countries!

About the title, Birkat Ha – Minim” means exactly “A Benção dos Hereges” and was a term used by the Jews in the early I century. It was created in order to the just converted Christians that insisted in consider them selves as part of the Jews, going to the synagogues that deny them at that time. How to differentiate the Christians of the Jews in that time was almost impossible, so the Jews priests create the “Birkat Ha – Minim”, that was a pray in the Jewish cult that cursed all Christians present at the time and condemn them to the spiritual banishment to all the eternity (logic to them)… So we wanted to show how erroneous and contradictory are the bought races, since they venerate the same god and take the veil of the submission dogmatic! And so like Nietzche made with Zratustra, we invert the “Birkat…” to our values, so we wanted to show our disdain to the fowlers to the inexistent Christ and to all the dogmatic fowlers of any religion! Because we don’t need bow to any identity above our heads our below our feet to reach our goals and we’ll keep it that way until we considerer our selves as free spirits!!!!
The “Live tape 2005” (our second official attack), is a record from our show in II Nocturnal Hordes Devastation, when also played bands like Ocultan, Oligarquia, Paradise in Flames, Wrathorned, Delicta Carnis, Skull, Autumm Flowers, Devourer and Sadistic Gore.
Was a fuck fest promoted by the D’Ávila brothers from the Metal Devastation web zine (http://www.metaldevastation.com.br/) and from Metal Hordes web zine (http://www.metalhordes.com.br/, where our show was record without our assent. So when we find out we heard it and appreciated a lot, and decided to release it in the cult tape format.
The first showing some interest was the MPA 666 from Nigra Mortis Prods., that gave us a big rip off proving once more that they wasn’t suppose to exist… after that, we assign the mission to our friend Henrique from Alastor Rex Prods (http://www.alastorexdistro.cjb.net/), released in 333 copies.
As our Mexican brother Aerly (Black Empire/ Erishkingal) also shown some interest in the release, it will be also released by his “Satanic Records” above the name “Summoning the Evil Spirits” and with a different layout limited to 666 copies. Tapes maniacs reserve your now!

How has been the acceptance to yours records?

GVN: Like I’ve said before my friend, it has been the best and so we released that the world is full of maniacs like us! ARGH!

About Brazilian underground, what can you tell us about it situation?

GVN: As much people now, the Brazilian underground is very huge, glorious and insane! At all time appears new bands, distros and zines with a proposal and an ideology to pass and that's awesome.
Every one that cross this path searching for “Metal” will find what of more mortal and bloody exists in this kind of music… the only thing missing is best financiers conditions in order to refines even more our insane kind of art!

Witch bands are distinguished in nowadays?

GVN: wardeath, Abantesma, Mesemon Ecrof, Vultos Vociferos, Delicta Carnis, Lord Foul (hailz!), Shedim, Evil Empire, Lord Satanael, Uraeus, I Shit on your Face, Gory Gruesome, Gag on my Cock, Sheitan, Infernal Blood, In Infernal War, Mystifier (Hailz Sakana!), Impetuous Rage, Uraeus, Mephistopholes, Rotting, Shadow Moon, Grave Desecrator, Opus Inferi, Miasthenia, Malkuth, Malefactor, Ave Lúcifer, Arkanus ad Noctum, Funerality, Paradise in Flames, Wrathorned, ,Incredulous, Unholy Mass, Eternal Sacrifice, Expose your Hate, Abate Macabro, Winds Funera, Aborticide, Expulser, Hecate, Pecatorium etc etc...

Describe to us, your vision of Black Metal.

GVN: Not only the Black Metal like all Metal signifies a lot in my life, because I live to Metal e for Metal 24 hours by day and 7 days by week.
That’s the artistic style I chose in order to express my ideas, feelings an all that I can split above this stupid world, and all that in the form of more brutal and insane music of the Planet, the extreme Metal! Being it Black/death or even Thrash… All that I feel I express through this polemic musical ramification and that why I’m on it for the rest of my life, since I don’t stand here to impress no one, but only to satisfies my self and my yearnings.

What is your vision about the religion and politics?

GVN: Two ways to blind people.

What are your plans for the future to Catacumba?

GVN: For shows, usually we don’t make a lot of plans, we are invited, think about it and we accept when we find it adjusted to that moment.
We’re lucky because we have a large group of allies determinate to call us to hateful celebrations and that’s been an honorable opportunity to show our selves in bigger and fucked celebrations with big brothers of Metal! Hailz!
About releases, we had receive a lot of proposals and the only ones, that are 666% granted are the “Live tape 2005” here on Brazil by Alastor Rex Prods and in Mexico by Satanic Records, the split EP with our brothers Gore/Grinders I Shit on your face by the Hole Records and our full-length by Sick Chainsaw Prods from Thailand (that also will release a fucked album version on professional tape).
We’ll start to record new material to these releases after September and I think that the year of 2007 promises a lot of torments to our big enemies and envious…

Decayed... a living legend in the Portuguese Metal Scene. 16 years has passed but this blasphemers still keeping up at full force. Many releases were made, many stages were steped, so they have many stories to tell about. Now that they are preparing their new album, we enter to talk with JA to know more about it and a little about the story of the band.

16 years of Decayed. Make me the balance of the 16 years of this historical band of the Portuguese Underground Scene

Holy shit! I have no idea man... Metal, we keep on releasing Metal anthems... That’s about it... We had great times and also shitty times, but we're still around.

All along these years you have seen many bands coming and going. But Decayed was always kept alive. Can you tell us the secret ? Or is a band which it's soul will never die ?

I have no idea. I started this whole insanity in 1990 and I just kept on going forward, not matter what... I just never gave up, I think that people give up too easy. I still have ideas for DKD, so I'll keep on releasing stuff, as long that I think that I have something new to put out. But anyway, I think that our soul will never die, even after we die.

For all this years Decayed have released several releases. Do you think that each one is a mark in the band's path ? Which release have marked you most ?

Yes, all they mark a moment in my life and in the life of DKD. Each release had to be released when it was, it could not be otherwise. I think that the album that marked me must was "NOckthurnaal". I have a very strong feeling when I listen to that album and when I play those songs, like "Hell-Witch"... killer song!

Great... and about future releases ??? You have told me that the band is about to put out a few more releases. What can you tell us about that ?

Well, first there should be two split CDs, one with the Italian DARKNESS and the other with my own project THUGNOR. I'm not sure of when they will be released, but I think that still this year. As for the new album, it is ready to be recorded and we expect to do it in December (maybe the 25th? LOL)... But back to the splits, one is new material but with me doing everything, and the other one is a remixed version of the 7"EP "Satanic Blast" and a cover. There's also a 7"EP to be out with 2 old songs sung by the Lady of DRACENA from Sweden, but no dates yet...

About the new album... can you say more about it or you want to keep secret till its out ?

If I wanted it to be a secret I wouldn't be spreading already some rehearsal songs, right? Anyway, some people that have heard it say that it sounds more like the early albums, so, maybe you can have a clue on that? I agree, I think that it sounds more like the 2 first album combined in one.

So it's like a return to Decayed Roots ?

I guess you can say that, we're 4 again, so it’s more input into the songs. Maybe it’s a full circle, I have no idea what it means, and I just know that it is. We'll see what the future holds for DKD...

Your former vocalist has left the band recently. This situation have delayed the work of the band and the preparation of the band ? What can you tell us about this ?

It got a gig cancelled and I really wanted to go to Porto again... But we already have a new vocalist and right now we're rehearsing for 2 gigs, but after that we'll start working on his vocals for the album and then record in December... if anything goes wrong I can always sing...

Now speaking about the Portuguese Metal Scene. Being you a part, and, perhaps the most known band in our underground, what can you tell us about the Underground's evolution, since the early days till now ?

Oh man, I hate these questions... Evolution? Maybe... There are a lot more bands, that’s for sure, but as for evolution I have no idea, I'm not interested in that I'm just interested in the music, everything else I don't give a fuck.

What Black Metal means to you ?

A way of life... simple as that. If you know me, you know what I mean...

Tell us what you expect for the future. What are your future plans?

Keep on releasing good Metal albums and keep on playing everywhere, that is what I want for the future.

And we all would be glad to have Decayed active for many more years

D.O.R. is one of the most obscure and underground projects in the Portuguese scene. This one man band has released 3 demos and is about to release two new works... D.O.R. is about death, pain, misanthropy, suffering that exists in this world... and for me is always a pleasure to interview an obscure band leaded by Mortiferus...

Make us a little presentation of D.O.R.

This solo project was created in 2004 with the idea to express myself about death. D.O.R. means for Death Overcomes Reality and stands for the importance of death in our lifes.

How do you describe your sound… and what are the thematic of your music?

Atmospheric, depressive, cold…. Since the beginning, humans have tried to hide the idea that some day will die. There’s always the fear that wherever they go, whatever they do, Death is watching... In a world where year by year, the population increases, some day… someone must die. I also approach matters like suicide, nightmares and fears, suffering, hate, Satan, etc… everything that causes infliction in their existence. I take D.O.R. music in a very personal level.

You have released 3 demos. Can you talk a little about everyone of them and about the evolution since the beginning of the band till now?

The demo-tapes sound like distorted Black Metal, very simplistic and raw.
The first demo “Torture & Pain” was released in 2004 and was very poor, in sound quality and structure. Like every first demo, it’s a chance to create pillars for the future. The second one, “The Essence of Self-Destruction” was brought in early 2005 and with new resources, I could now explore a different perspective that in the time of the first demo was impossible for me. And finally, “Blessed by Unholy Murder” was more close to my idea for the project.
Current days, D.O.R. is more atmospheric, very profound with great Doom influences. Was a long hard journey until the desirable sound emerged after 2 years.

You are preparing two new Blasphemies. Can you tell a little about these two next releases? There are any release dates available?

Shall be released the debut album, “A Journey through the Shadows” by DarkMusic Productions. I recorded it short after the third demo was finished. There is no release date.
The other release will be a split-tape limited to 500 copies with Odium Perpetuum, a solo project of Morbid Dead of Asbath Oculta. Probably in October will be available.

Your work is being well accepted by the headbanger legion?

To be honest, I don’t really care. If someone likes what I do, then just buy a demo. If not, don’t try to waste my time.

Have you done some concerts with the project???

I’ve played with Alastor (Ex-InThyFlesh) in the drums, with Morte Incandescente and Flagellum Dei in Culto Bar last February, but it went very wrong. Few rehearsals, lack of live experience made the show been cancelled in the middle.

Talking about the Portuguese underground scene. What is your opinion about the state of the Portuguese scene?

I rather not to say anything about it. If you are a true fan of the Underground, than support it and respect it.

For you, what’s the meaning of Black Metal…?

Everything.

What do you plan for the future?

I’m recording new stuff now, probably in 2007 a demo will be released.

ISHKUR...A new Black Metal band from Oporto catacombs...Many people had compared it as Marduk...But it's even more brutal...What we listen in its work is pure Brutal Black Metal... The first demo tape is out now by Hell War Prod and we came to talk with the menthor of the project, ISHKUR himself, to know more about the band and this first release...

You recently have released you first demo by Hell War prod. How have people recieved it ?

This demo's reception has been pretty good. I have to say i was not expecting this to be so. I mean, of course i beblieve in the quality of this work, or i wouldn't even be bothering to put it out, but i was not expecting reactions to be so positive, expecially since this is a rather young project.

Talk me about the thematic of this demo...

Humanity is at a state incredibly inferior to what it should could be. It has the potential to accomplish great things and to achieve greatness, yet nowadays it seems to be contempt with just dragging itself aimlessly throughout times. "The Ancient Ones Come" is somehow a manifest about that. About both the disgust towards humanity's current state and the knowledge that there is something more to be achieved. There is no desire to end humanity nor to accomplish mankind's extinction. There is no hate towards humans. This demo is divided in two parts, each represented by one side of the tape. The first part side is a reflection about the need we have allways had and the weakness that drives to rely on external entities, gods, gurus, leaders, instead of relying in ourselves. The second part is a consciencialization that the time has come to break those bonds that restrain us and become greater, by our own will and strength. It's an adaptation, an interpretation of the Nietzschian concept of the Ubbermensch. There is the potential to be more, a great deal more. That's why i called this demo "The Ancient Ones Come". The ancient ones are not gods; they are the leaders, thinkers, sages, warriors, kings of the past, that have achieved greatness by their own hands and valour. How can we not let their past inspire us and drive us to a greater state?

You had the participation of Arcanus in the drums. Can you tell us how this happened?

Well, in the early days of this project, i did not show what i was doing to many people. So happened one of those was Impius, the guitarist of Inner Helvete and Warmaster. He liked what i was doing and showed it to Arcanus whotold me he would like to participate in it. Well, since he is someone i have great respect for, both as a person and as a musician, i felt honoured and accepted, of course. After recording this demo tape, the hypothesis of him joining as full member arised and we both were excited about it, so... There you have it.

Do you have more releases in mind or this is the only one by now?

Well, i do intend to achieve a regular level of creativity, which i hope will result in new releases! HAHA. But for now i plan to do my best to distribute this work and just focus on writing even better material. There are a couple of possible releases in mind, but that's not clear enough to discuss it now.

ISHKUR is a studio band or do you expect to do some shows with the band?

Ishkur started off as a pure studio project. I was doing everything, including programmed drums, but it has since evolved. The possibility of playing live has been contemplated and is doable, but... Let it rest in unknown land for now.

I know you have one more band, Acceptus Noctifer. Tell us something about this band.

Well, we're about to release a new demo tape through Skull Productions and we're starting to play live again, after some serious line-up changes. For those who don't know the band... Well... it's black metal! Its kind of stupid for me to try and define the sound we play. The best way to define it is to listen to it. Well, of course a have a parcial oppinion, but i think it is deffinitely worth checking out.

Give me your vision about Portuguese scene.

I guess there is no way of avoiding this question. The portuguese scene is probably not far off of the external BM scene. There are good people, there are shitty people. There are bands who care for what they're doing and try to support the scene and there are those who just shit on everyone and everything hoping to climb on that pile of shit and achieve something more other, even if it's just standing taller. I effort myself to keep appart of most of the crap but we all get dragged into it. I will not say names, it's not my place to do so. But i grow more and more disgusted of some people. I mean, it's a small scene, it's good that it's so. But shit, what's the point in trying to achieve anything through lying and bad-mouthing others? Fuck off! That's just lack of belief in your own work!

Can you define me what means Black Metal to you ?

Feeling. To me, Black metal is the raw manifestation of feeling. Pure and simple. Rage, suffering, hate, love, pain, disgust... Feeling.

Tell me about ISHKUR's future...give me your plans to the future.

For now i plan to keep writing more music and that's the main objective. Maybe consider the possibility of playing live, but that's not the priority. My plans concern making music and that's it. Demo-tapes, releases, concerts and the such are consequences of that, but i don't consider them objectives, i rather see them as perks.

Interview - DOLENTIA

Dolentia is a Portuguese Underground Black Metal band constituted by Nihil in the guitars and Sangre in the drums.
Their music is based on folklore, tradition and medieval history. Their formation came from 2004 and finally released their first Rehearsal tape by Bubonic productions, so we came to talk with Nihil to know a little more about the band.

Tell us a little about Dolentia.

Dolentia (latin name for disease) was born in November 2004, when me and Sangre decided to create a project to express our vision of black metal. We have very specific similar musical tastes, so it was a very natural process. During the year of 2005 we had some rehearsing problems, so only in 2006 we had conditions to record our first work entitled "Cadunt Altis de Montibus Umbrae".

How can you describe your sound and your influences?

Harsh sound guitars through fast and mid paced drums mixed with folk acoustics and raw vocals. Our musical influences go from some names of the French black metal scene to old Bathory, Venom, Mercyful Fate as well as some dark folk acts and medieval influenced music.

Tell us about the subjects of your lyrics. Your title songs are written in Latin, you write them in Latin?

Dolentia's concept is about medieval Portuguese history (the period between X and XIV century) focusing political history, war, plague and death. Our titles are in latin but our lyrics are in Portuguese. Latin has a strong connection to the country (it's was the official language used in documents during the first dynasty) so it was a natural choice for our writing along with our mother language.

So we can say that Dolentia is a patriotic band, right?

Our history is the base of our culture and that's something we deeply admire even if we don't agree with all decisions and ways taken during the centuries. There's a strong nationalist feeling in our music, but our music is not a vehicle for any fascist, communist or any other ideological propaganda.

Talking about patriotism is talking about our roots, our tradition and our history…

Absolutely. What we are now is the product of a long historic path of self discovering that slowly built our culture, All the problems that Portuguese people faced together as a nation marked the popular conscience, our traditions and artistic manifestations: since the independence wars against our Spanish neighbours, against the Moors, the plagues and hunger… everything had an enormous impact towards our growth as a nation, as homogeneous group of individuals with its own goals and with a special importance in universal history.

You have released your first Rehearsal tape by Bubonic Productions. Can you do a description of this rehearsal, how people is accepting this release and how do you came with the creation of Bubonic Productions

Our first demo entitled "Cadunt Altis de Montibus Umbrae" is a 22 minute medieval influenced raw black metal piece divided in 3 tracks that had a small tape edition of 100 hand numbered copies through my label. Until now people seem to be reacting well to our material (even with the bad quality of the recordings), but to be honest that is not an important thing to me neither to Sangre. Bubonic Productions was created in 2006 as a label/distro turned to extreme musical manifestations with a ritualistic, folk oriented feeling. There are some future releases planed to a near future, let's see...

Do you expect to do some live shows with Dolentia or the band is a studio band ?

In the right time we will perform live.

What do you think about the Portuguese metal Scene ?

Like all the scenes, there are good bands and less good bands. There are a few that I appreciate a lot.

What do expect in the future to Dolentia? What are your projects to the future?

We don't want fame, money or recognition with our music, so we will continue on doing what we like and believe without any exterior interference, immune to trends and apart of the stupidity and wars that often are present in the underground. To the near future are planed two releases through Bubonic: a special conceptual tape about Portugal origins and our second (conventional) demo.
